Porsche today announced the updated EPA estimated range figures for the all-electric 2023 Taycan. The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo offers the most improved figure in the lineup, with a 14.2 percent longer range.
The 2023 Porsche Taycan GTS sedan can go up to 246 miles (396 km) on a charge. It is one of just two models in the lineup that does not improve over 2022, the other being the GTS Sport Turismo, which can go up to 233 miles (375 km) between visits to the charging station.
The most improved models, meanwhile, are the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, and the Taycan Turbo sedan. These models improve by 14.2 percent (233 miles/375 km) and 12.2 percent (238 miles/383 km) respectively. They are followed closely by the Turbo S sedan, which improves by 10.4 percent (222 miles/357 km) for the 2023 model year.

On average, the 2023 model year Taycan lineup has improved its driving range by 6.7 percent, or 8.14 percent if you don’t count the two GTS models, which were introduced in 2022 and are the most recent additions to the lineup.
These improved range estimates follow an update that was announced in July for the 2023 model year Taycan. The update included some minor revisions to the electric Porsche’s software, technology, and, most relevantly, to its powertrain management.
Those changes include a new feature that de-energizes the front motor (on dual-motor Taycans, of course) in the Normal and Range modes to “reduce parasitic load.” Energy recuperation settings are also now retained when drivers switch between Drive modes, and the energy flow to each axle is now shown on the all-wheel drive indicator.
In addition to going farther, charging should also be made easier, thanks to improved thermal management software. The battery can now be preconditioned faster and to a higher temperature to ensure “optimum charging curve performance even at higher SOC [state of charge].”
Fortunately, for the owners of older Taycans, all of the software updates that are being made for the 2023 model will also be available to them in the “very near future.”
