2026 Polestar 6 LA Concept Edition Convertible Sells Out In Just One Week

Polestar has filled all 500 build slots for its 6 LA Concept edition electric convertible in just one week, the company has revealed.

The emissions-free roadster, a production version of the Polestar O2 concept car shown in March, made its debut at Monterey Car Week and is expected to arrive in dealerships in 2026.

But the prospect of a four-year wait to get their hands on a road-ready version didn’t put buyers off. They snapped up all of the available build slots, though Polestar did say that a small number of slots within the 500 production run has been reserved for selected markets that include Iceland, UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, New Zealand, China, and South Korea.

“The high interest from our customers shows that a stunning electric roadster like Polestar 6 has high relevance in the sports car arena,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, as he made a mental note to give himself a pay rise for the speedy sellout. “The open-top-plus-electric combination is clearly one that appeals to even the most die-hard petrolheads.”

The Polestar 6 is built around a version of the bonded aluminum chassis found in the company’s new 5 grand tourer and features 800-volt architecture and a dual-motor setup that delivers 872 hp (650 kW / 884 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels. That’s sufficient to get the roadster from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The 500 examples of the LA Concept edition will feature the show car’s sky blue paintwork, 21-inch wheels, and pale-color interior, but there is some good news for those who missed out on a build slot, or would prefer a different interior and exterior color scheme. Polestar is putting the 6 into full-scale production once the initial LA Concept editions have been built and will be opening the order book for those cars later in 2022.
