[ad_1]

Ajit Mohan, the head of Meta Platforms Inc. in India, has quit. He is said to join Snap Inc.

“Ajit has decided to step down from his role at Meta to pursue another opportunity outside of the company,” Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president of global business group at Meta, said in a statement.

“We remain deeply committed to India and have a strong leadership team in place to carry on all our work and partnerships. We are grateful for Ajit’s leadership and contribution and wish him the very best for the future.”

TechCrunch reported on Thursday that he will join Snap. At Snap, he will serve as president of the company’s Asia-Pacific business, the report said.

Mohan had joined Meta, then Facebook Inc., in January 2019 as vice president and managing director of the India business. During his tenure, Facebook invested $5.7-billion in Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Platforms in April 2020 and launched WhatsApp Business in India.

His exit from Meta in India comes nearly two years after Ankhi Das, head of public policy for Facebook India, quit over a hate-speech controversy.
