Anyone Have The Hots For A Brand New 2008 Ford Mustang GT500 KR?

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is an absolute powerhouse of a car, and that fact has remained true for every generation of it. However, if you don’t have the money to shell out for the newest version, which starts just under $80,000 before any options or ridiculous markups, an alternative could be this brand new example from 2008.

Listed for sale with Silverstone Motorcars for $79,000, the 2008 Mustang GT500 KR has just 23 miles (37 km) on its odometer, making it virtually new. It was also one of only 1,000 units produced for the 2008 model year, making it quite a rare car as well.

The car is finished in red with silver chrome wheels, which is offset by silver racing stripes running down the entire length of the vehicles. Seeing as this is a Shelby vehicle, it also boasts cobra badges in place of the typical ponies, as well as “Shelby” lettering on the hood and trunk. Other unique exterior features include a GT500-specific body kit and larger wheels. Inside, the cabin is finished in a basic black color scheme, but it reveals something today’s GT500 can’t claim: a manual transmission.

Powering the GT500 KR is 5.4L supercharged V8 making 540 hp (547 PS / 403 kW) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque, which was 40 hp (41 PS / 30 kW) and 30 lb-ft (41 Nm) of torque more than the GT500 of the time, let alone the normal Mustang GT. Those were incredibly impressive numbers when this car was new, and they’re frankly still quite impressive even in today’s current crop of high-output American sports cars.
