Sales in most segments of India’s automotive industry is expected to be muted in June, both over the last year and sequentially, even as the chip supply pain starts to ease for automakers.
Factory-gate shipments of carmakers, barring Tata Motors Ltd., fell month-on-month in June, according to data compiled from research reports of Emkay Global, Jefferies, and Motilal Oswal.
Wholesales rose over a year earlier on a low base as the industry was recovering from the second wave of pandemic-induced lockdowns in the country.
Two-wheeler sales volumes in June are expected to rise over the previous month, barring Hero MotoCorp Ltd. In the commercial vehicle segment too, the analysts are seeing subdued demand.
