Christian von Koenigsegg Says The C8 Corvette Is “Mind-Blowing”

Christian von Koenigsegg may be accustomed to driving and developing some of the planet’s most expensive and exclusive production cars but he knows a performance car bargain when he sees one. The C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is exactly that.

The boss of Sweden’s most famous supercar company recently attended Monterey Car Week where the carmaker unveiled the new CC850, complete with a part-manual and part-automatic transmission. While at the event, he spoke with The Drive and revealed just how impressed he is with the C8 Corvette.

“What a bang for the buck,” he said. “That GM can do that for that kind of money, with that kind of level of performance is mind-blowing. And good for them, and good for their customers.”

The C8 Corvette has received a lot of praise from the moment it was unveiled, due largely in part to the fact that the 2020 model started at less than $60,000, a price once inconceivable for a mid-engined sports car offering so much performance. While the car’s starting price has since grown to $65,595 for the 2023 model year, it still remains relatively affordable and significantly undercuts its European rivals.

Christian von Koenigsegg is no stranger to bang for your buck performance cars. While the automaker exclusively builds multi-million dollar supercars for some of the world’s wealthiest individuals, von Koenigsegg has owned a Toyota GR Yaris and only recently parted ways with it. The boss of Koenigsegg also uses a Tesla Model S as his daily driver.
