Dakota Johnson is addressing rumours of a feud with her 50 Shades co-star Jamie Dornan.
When the films were released from 2015 to 2018, the pair got on brilliantly and were quick to gush over each other in interviews. But in recent years, rumours of a rift between them began to spread.
But now Dakota is shutting down claims of issues between her and Jamie, explaining how much they care for each other.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, the actress confessed; “There was never a time when we didn’t get along.”
“I know it’s weird, but he’s like a brother to me. I love him so, so, so much. And we were really there for each other. We had to really trust each other and protect each other.”
It seems the rumours may have began when Dakota voiced her negative experience working on the 50 Shades franchises, with many believing she was referring to Jamie.
But setting the record straight, the Cha Cha Real Smooth star, explained the films were very different to what she thought they’d be, and had little to do with Jamie.
Saying; “I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know so much about it.”
“That’s why I did those big naked movies. I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making.”
Confessing there was tension on-set, she said; “I was young. I was 23. So it was scary.”
“It just became something crazy. There were a lot of different disagreements. I haven’t been able to talk about this truthfully ever, because you want to promote a movie the right way, and I’m proud of what we made ultimately and everything turns out the way it’s supposed to, but it was tricky.”
But the star revealed that a lot of the tension seemed to start with the author of the book series, E.L. James.
“We’d do the takes of the movie that Erika [E.L. James] wanted to make, and then we would do the takes of the movie that we wanted to make.” Dakota confessed.
Adding; “The night before, I would rewrite scenes with the old dialogue so I could add a line here and there. It was like mayhem all the time.”
