Genesis Electrified GV70 Coming To LA, Will Go Into Production Next Month

Genesis has announced plans to showcase the Electrified GV70 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Set to go into production in Montgomery, Alabama this December, the Electrified GV70 will be the first Genesis model built in the United States as well as the first Genesis made outside of South Korea.

The company hasn’t released US-specifications at this point, but the electric crossover should echo the Korean variant which features LED lighting units and a fully enclosed grille that houses a hidden charging port.

Inside, we can expect an 8- or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 14.5-inch infotainment system. Higher-end variants should offer an assortment of amenities including heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a wireless phone charger. We can also expect an eight-speaker audio system and a fingerprint authentication system.

Motivation will likely be provided by a 77.4 kWh battery pack, which powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing a combined output of 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. The crossover should also have a boost mode, which temporally increases the output to 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS) and allows the model to hit 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.2 seconds.

EPA ratings remain a mystery, but the Electrified GV70 can travel up to 283 miles (455 km) on a single charge in the UK. The crossover also has a 350 kW DC fast charging capability, which enables the battery to go from a 10% to 80% charge in less than 20 minutes.

Of course, we should learn full details soon as the Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off on November 17th.
