Here’s A Classic Corvette Race Car That You Can Take Anywhere Including To Your Local Cars And Coffee

Many car lovers dream of owning a classic car one day. Other automotive enthusiasts wish they could have a real race car in their garage. This stunning 1958 Chevrolet Corvette with an incredible history checks both of those boxes and is up for sale right now.

This car isn’t a piece of history that has been dolled up simply for resale either. According to the listing, it was raced all the way back in the 1960s. Sometime around 1970 it was stored and left that way until it was rescued out of storage in 2001. A full restoration took place in 2002 and it’s been racing ever since.

Under the hood is a Rochester fuel-injected 283ci V8 that sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission built by Muncie and a limited-slip differential. This isn’t some sort of restomod either as it still has finned drum brakes, a solid rear axle, and 15-inch steel wheels.

Those brakes might sound incapable of reeling in a race car but they’re actually part of a very rare factory competition brake package. The few parts on the car that aren’t old-school are mostly safety-related including a racing seat for the driver, an updated roll cage, and a fire extinguisher.

Perhaps one of the most desirable features of this particular Corvette race car is the fact that it’s still street legal. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles and the current owner has logged around 4,000 of those. This is the sort of ride where we can see someone actually taking to cars and coffee meet-ups between vintage race weekends without any issue.

In fact, the listing has multiple images and videos showing this specific car in racing events. Some of those events include the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca and the Lime Rock Historic Festival. The new owner will get all of those materials along with an extra set of wheels and tires too.

The Corvette is available over on Bring A Trailer where the auction ends on Wednesday, August 17th. As of this writing, it’s been bid to $31,000, which is quite reasonable for such an iconic, functional, classic vehicle with this sort of individual history.
