NLC India Ltd. is an integrated power company having captive lignite and coalmines and a consolidated generation capacity of 6061 mega watt. It is a CPSE with ‘Navratna’ status under direct administrative control of the Ministry of Coal.

The company was incorporated in 1956 and has a long operating history with significant contribution in lignite production in the country. It operates four open cast lignite mines with current capacity of 30.6 million tonnes per annum, namely Mine I, Mine IA, Mine II and Barsingsar Mine.

It also operates an open cast coalmine, Talabira II and III having current capacity of 20.0 mtpa.

NLC India has lignite thermal power generation capacity of 3640 mega watt, with four pithead power plants at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, one pithead power plant at Barsingsar, Rajasthan and a 1000 mega watt coal plant through joint venture (NTPL) in Tamil Nadu.

The company also has solar energy capacity of 1370 mega watt and wind energy capacity of 51 mega watt.
