Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced Munir’s appointment on Twitter on Thursday. The appointment was later approved by President Arif Alvi, who belongs to Khan’s party, GEO TV, a local news channel reported. Munir will have a three-year term replacing General Qamar Javed Bajwa, whose six-year extended term ends Nov. 29.
