Purple Works Perfectly On This 1997 BMW 750iL

If you’re one of those who absolutely despise BMW’s current design language, then taking a trip down memory lane and picking up the keys to an old 7-Series like this could be the way to go.

The first thing that may catch your eye with this particular 750iL is the paint. It is dubbed Navarra Violet Metallic and is a shade of purple that suits a luxury sedan like this very well. While the listing notes that the car has some stone chips up front and a small dent on the passenger side rear door, it looks to have been well-maintained, particularly considering the car was built in 1997.

Cars & Bids is auctioning off the car and notes that it is a Canadian-spec model that was imported into the United States in 1998. It has an accident-free Carfax report.

The listing reveals the 750iL is equipped with 16-inch wheels, self-leveling rear suspension, xenon headlights, Dynamic Stability Control, insulated dual-pane glass, and fog lights.

By modern standards, the interior looks quite dated. However, it is loaded with features to make the car absolutely perfect for long journeys, including 16-way power-adjustable front heated seats with a memory function on the driver’s seat. What’s more, the rear seats are heated and power-adjustable while the 7-Series also comes equipped with leather upholstering and a thumping audio system.

The interior does show some signs of wear, including on the seats, gear selector, and a sagging headliner.

Slotted beneath the hood of the 7-Series is a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V12 with 322 hp and 361 lb-ft (489 Nm) of torque coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The car has been driven 162,900 miles (~262,000 km).
