Ringbrothers’ New-Old 1964 Ford Mustang ‘CAGED’ Took 4,200 Hours To Build

This is ‘CAGED,’ a wild 1964 Ford Mustang that has been transformed by Ringbrothers into a one-off creation that took more than 4,200 hours to create.

In creating a Mustang unlike any other, Ringbrothers acquired a new chassis from Roadster Shop and then converted it back into a unibody. The bodywork was then widened and lengthened by one inch and the Mustang resprayed in a shade known as BASF Glasurit ‘Burgundy Brave.’

Numerous unique parts are found across the body of CAGED, including custom-made taillights, front grille, badges, and emblems. It also features titanium trimmings and sits on a set of custom wheels from EVOD Industries that measure 18×9 at the front and 18×11 at the rear, wrapped in 245/40 front and 285/40 rear Continental tires.

Ringbrothers have crafted custom floor pans for the car, as well as a unique transmission tunnel and double floor. It also rocks Penske Racing performance coilovers at the front and rear, as well as a 1.25-inch splined front sway bar with C6 Corvette end links. The steering rack was sourced from Woodward while braking is provided by Baer components with six-piston calipers and 14-inch discs at both the front and rear.

A new engine has also been installed, namely a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with a custom-fabricated engine cover, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a custom driveshaft. Ringbrothers have also installed Flowmaster headers and a Flowmaster stainless steel exhaust system. A new fuel tank was also fitted.

The interior of the CAGED Mustang has also been thoroughly upgraded and now sports a custom billet machined steering wheel, new gauges from Dakota Digital, and a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum Evaporator climate-control system.

“Every piece of this car has been touched and updated with the original design cues in mind, down to the iconic Mustang taillight bezels, gas cap and running horse emblems,” Ringbrothers co-founder Jim Ring said. “There’s a lot of nuances that went into the design, and we’re proud of that aspect of the build. Only the expert eye will be able to discern the subtly of the differences.”
