The VIP List: What the team is loving this week

Pic: Instagram/Otherside Festival

We’ve had a busy week here at VIP Magazine HQ with our July issue hitting shelves. Of course, we had some downtime to really enjoy those summer nights. With these lengthy evenings, we have plenty of time to enjoy everything that is on offer. And of course, we’re also loving being able to jet off on holidays.

That means that we have lots to fill all of you in on what we’ve been up to this week and what has made our hearts soar! From festivals to jewellery, we have plenty to dig! Here’s what Team VIP has been all about…

Online Editor Bronwyn is dreaming about…Formula 1

After my long-suffering boyfriend informed me that Formula 1 is much more than cars driving in a circle for hours on end every Sunday, I became a massive fan of the sport. With some gentle coaching by himself and Netflix’s Drive to Survive, I was soon hooked. So when he surprised me with weekend tickets to Silverstone I was completely over the moon. We jetted off on Friday morning, landing in Manchester and headed straight to the racetrack.

We spent the next three days shielding from torrential downpours and slathering on sunscreen (we still ended up sunburnt) as we watched the three feeder series, W Series, Formula 3 and Formula 2, before the main event – Formula 1. As a Max Verstappen fan (the current World Champion), it was a tough weekend, especially being surrounded by Lewis Hamilton (the British driver and seven-time World Champion) supporters, including my boyfriend.

If we weren’t sitting trackside we were checking out what else was on offer, from bike stunts from Danny MacAskill to games on simulators. There were even concerts in the evenings, with the likes of Mabel, Bastille and Sigalla performing on the main stage. We’re already planning our trip back in 2023!

Deputy Ed Niamh can’t wait for…Otherside Festival, Slane, Co Meath

I am absolutely buzzing to experience this brand new Irish festival over the weekend. A few months ago, I went glamping on Slane Rock Farm, but from today until Sunday, this beautiful location is going to be a whole new experience: music acts like Saint Sister and The Scratch, comedy, late-night dancing in the forest, incredible food and drink (including a banqueting experience) and a relaxing wellness area, from hot tubs to morning yoga.

It looks like the weather is playing ball for the inaugural year, with the sun set to shine all weekend…roll on the good times! Tickets are still available on othersidefestival.ie

Weekend Editor Sláine is loving…SoHo HAIRCARE

As any curly girly knows, it’s easy for unruly hair to take over and for things to start looking a little Sideshow Bob-esque. So a good styling tool is always appreciated, but SoHo HAIRCARE is a god send. Their entire range has the best styling tools available, designed to give fabulous results with everyday life in mind.

But it’s their SoHo Hook Shower Brush that’s my new obsession. It’s a two in one stimulating scalp brush and shower detangler meaning you can save your scalp and treat your tresses using just one product. Plus the curved handle allows it to hang in your shower, keeping a cluttered bathroom at bay.

Not to mention the benefits for your hair. It is specially designed to alleviate the risk of any pulling, tugging or hair breakage, which is brilliant for anyone struggling with damage. It also makes sure your products go a long way, helping to evenly distribute conditioners and hair masks.

And its amazing scalp massages not only feel heavenly but also promote hair growth.

Retailing for €14.95, The SoHo Hook Shower Brush is the ultimate summer styling tool for every hair type (including any little ones with messy manes). Definitely a small Irish business worth supporting.

Staff Editor Michelle Dardis is all about…Maria Tash

I was very kindly invited into Maria Tash’s Brown Thomas store recently to get a new piercing in celebration of their brand new Emerald collection and I am obsessed!! Known for curating the perfectly designed ear, I sat down with their team of experts and spoke through a few ideas for placements and angles.

I went for a Tash rook piercing (based at the top flat part of your ear), which takes about nine months to fully heal. The white gold stud is so dainty, but adds a little extra glam – that’ll do! I’m already planning a trip back in to get more.
