VW Updates ID.4 GTX And ID.5 GTX With Red And Black Theme, More Standard Equipment

Volkswagen has updated its ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX models with a host of new standard equipment.

The most significant update is the inclusion of the Design and Comfort equipment packages as standard whereas they were previously optional extras. These packages add a climate comfort windscreen, heated front seats, a variable center console, tinted side and rear windows, two USB-C ports, and the Air Care Climatronic air-conditioning system with active combination filter, stationary air conditioning, and two-zone temperature control.

A handful of updates have also been made to the cabins of the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX. For example, the dashboard and door trim are now finished in black while various red accents are found throughout. Customers can also opt for optional premium sports seats with red seams, piping, and logos.

Volkswagen has confirmed that moving forward, all of its ID. models will spawn a GTX variant and that black and red accents will be a fixture across all of them.

No mechanical changes have been made to the updated ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX. As such, both sport a pair of electric motors combining to deliver 295 hp (220 kW) and 339 lb-ft (460 Nm) of torque. Both models can hit 180 km/h (112 mph) and are capable of towing up to 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs). Underpinning both models is a 77 kWh high-voltage battery that can be charged from 5 to 80 per cent in 36 minutes. The ID.4 GTX can travel up to 500 km (311 miles) on the WLTP cycle while the ID.5 GTX has a range of 512 km (318 miles).

Sales of the updated models have kicked off in Germany. Prices for the ID.4 GTX start at €53,255 ($55,728) while the ID.5 GTX is available from €56,455 ($59,077).
