Nicky Byrne announced last week that he would be stepping down from his role on Dancing with the Stars.
Of course, that means that his job is up for grabs and we’re sure a lot of people would be eager to step into it!
VIP Magazine was able to catch up with a few people who fans will certainly be championing to get the role after the news was announced.
From Carl Mullan to Bláthnaid Treacy, we chatted to a few famous faces about taking over the role.
Speaking at the RTÉ New Season launch Bláthnaid admits: “I’ve worked on the show before, I was doing the behind-the-scenes bits. I know how that show works. It is absolutely incredible and anyone who gets to work on that show is so lucky. Of course, I’d be interested in going for it!”
While her Hell Week co-star Paul Ryder adds: “This gal would be amazing at the job. This gal would be brilliant. Two female headers, Blathnaid and Jennifer Zamperelli would be unbelievable.”
As for himself? He confesses: “Obviously, any opportunity that comes my way I take it on. I’ve been really fortunate in the last couple of years. My life has been overturned in the last five years with opportunities and things that I’ve done.”
Meanwhile, James Kavanagh is shocked when he hears the news, he wasn’t aware that Nicky had stepped down when we chat.
“I would do a screen test for sure!” he enthuses, before joking: “I’ll send my CV in after this.”
Carl Mullan, who is currently one of the three presenters on 2FM’s Breakfast Show, admitted: “I think anyone who would say they’re not interested in that would probably be lying. It’s a great piece of television and to be part of that, of course!”
Brian Dowling, whose husband Arthur Gourounlian is a judge on the series jokes: “I’d have to ask my husband.”
Despite his own presenting experience, Brian is championing for another host in the shape of Lottie Ryan telling us she would be “brilliant”.
Who would you like to take on the role?
